Fall is asp season in Houston!  Be careful! They look soft and cottony, but they are actually the most venomous caterpillar in North America!  They show up this year on tree trunks, houses, cars, and plant… anywhere you might expect to see a bug.  Don’t touch it! The little hairs are actually stingers and they HURT!

If one gets onto you, don’t brush it off with your hand!  Find a stiff card or stick and slide it under the asp to make it lose its grip and fall off!
